Privacy Policy for Web Audit Tool

Last updated: March 18, 2026

Overview

Web Audit Tool is a Chrome extension that performs technical website audits including SEO analysis, performance metrics, security headers, DNS records, email configuration, SSL certificates, domain registration, and IP blacklist checks.

Data Collection

This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or browsing history. All analysis is performed locally within your browser.

Website Data

When you click the extension icon, it reads the URL and on-page content (HTML meta tags, headings, links, images) of your currently active tab solely to generate the audit report. This data is processed entirely in your browser's local memory and is discarded when you close the extension popup.

External API Requests

The extension makes requests to the following public APIs using only the domain name from the active tab's URL:

API Purpose
cloudflare-dns.com DNS record lookups (A, AAAA, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, CAA)
dns.google DNS record lookups (alternative / cross-validation)
crt.sh SSL certificate transparency lookups
rdap.org, rdap.verisign.com Domain WHOIS / registration lookups

No personal information, cookies, or authentication tokens are included in these requests.

Data Storage

The extension does not use local storage, cookies, or any persistent data storage mechanism to retain user data.

Third Parties

No data is shared with, sold to, or transferred to any third party.
